~ Guests: Dennis Dean representing the Maine Special Olympics, Traip Academy

                          and Traip teacher Diane Anderson

Past President Dave was President pro tem.

The Taste of Kittery will be May 7th at the Lion's Club, the ticket

price is only $30 again this year. Tickets can be obtained from Julie, Pat,

or Dave. Tickets must be bought in advance, no tickets can be sold at the

door as once again we will have wine available, along with soft drinks and coffee.

We need great silent auction donations, bring donations to Pat.

Dave reminded the Club that the April 21st meeting will be at York

County Community College at the District Assembly. This is DGE Jeff's

District Assembly and his club (that's us!) are the host club. A big turnout

is encouraged. We have to get our registrations in by April 9th so we can

forward the check to the District. Everyone who plans to make that meeting

(0800 on Tuesday the 21st,) please let Dave no later than April 9. If you plan

to come but you are worried what will happen if something comes up at the

last minute don't worry, we would rather pay the $20 then have people stay a

way on the off chance they might have to cancel.  We want as many as possible

                 to attend

We are supporting the AMIGOS project again this year, there is a cost of

$10 for the bucket cost and transportation expense, each bucket of food costs

about $45 (Editor's note ~ I paid about $43 per bucket today at DeMoulas').

Let Brad know if you want buckets I believe they need to be filled and returned

                by April 19th.

Today the club presented a donation of $100 to Dennis Dean representing

               the Special Olympics

Jeff related how much Justin looks forward to participating

each year. Russ, Pat, Ellen, and Julie all volunteer at the Olympics to be held

May 7th at Shapleigh school. Dennis took a few moments to tell the club about a

campaign to ban the use of the word "retard" or "retarded", it's use being degrading

and insulting to people with special needs and he challenged everyone to take the

pledge (to not use the word)

DDean2

"Let's ban that word"

The March Student of the Month from Shapleigh's parents could not

come today and we will have the student attend a later meeting.

The Student of the Month from Traip Academy is Chelsey Morrill. Chelsey

was introduced by her teacher Diane Anderson. Diane told of Chelsey's fine work

in art, her great attitude, hard work, and maturity in class.
