July had 5 Tuesdays (our weekly meeting day)  this year and true to our tradition, the Rotary Club of Kittery got together with family and friends including members of the Kittery Rotary Afterhours Club, for an evening of pizza and socializing on the lawn at "When Pigs Fly Pizzeria".
The sun broke out and the weather was just right as we enjoyed a "5th Tuesday" social on the lawn at When Pigs Fly".

Family and friends were joined by our current Rotary Short Term Youth Exchange travelers, Remick Matty and Akshay Kulkarni. Remick and Akshay  were at the end of their six week program that has seen Remick travel to Nashik India for three weeks where he was hosted by Akshay's family. They then traveled to Boston together for a three week visit with Remick's family in Kittery. Both of Akshay's parents are members of the Rotary Club of Nasik who had sponsored Akshay. Remick was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Kittery.

Akshay related how his school and study schedule were different for ours, he has been continuing to study all during his visit, putting in many hours each day. A determined effort for a young man whose goal is advance studies in quantum physics.

Akshay presented a Rotary travel banner from the Rotary Club of Nasik to Rotary Club of Kittery's 2024-2025 co-Club Presidents Pauli Rines and Brad Hirst. During his stay in Nashik Remick had presented a Rotary Club of Kittery banner to the Nasik Club. Remick's Dad Raef, noted that the recent wet weather had prevented exposing Akshay to the Matty family's usual summer camping experiences, but  they had been able to spend a day touring New York City - on a very warm day! Akshay will be returning home at the beginning of August.
