Celebrating a birthday in style. On June 15th, after showing up at the Kittery Block Party with fellow Traip Academy Interact Club members supporting a children's activity, Remick Matty headed to Logan Airport to start a Rotary Short Term Exchange trip to India ~ all on his 16th birthday!
Remick Matty, a student at R.W. Traip Academy in Kittery celebrated his 16th birthday on June 15th as he began his journey to India at the start of a Rotary Short Term Exchange program. Remick will be hosted by the Kulkarni family of Nashik , including their son Akshay. In three weeks Remick and Akshay will return to Kittery where Akshay will be hosted by the Matty family for three weeks.

Remick is a member of the R.W. Traip Academy Interact Club. On the 15th the Club was participating in the Kittery Block Party, so of course Remick put in an appearance there before his family headed for Boston to start his journey to India. The Short term exchange programs (STEP) are designed so high school students can participate during the summer breaks and students and their families are paired with a student and family in another country, spending about three weeks at each location. Last year the Rotary Club of Kittery had  sponsored two students on Short Term Programs, one going to Germany, and one going to Italy (Remick's brother Makili).
