       Club News:  President Julie introduced Assistant Governor for Area 3, Rick Goodrich.

            Rick presented greetings from DG Jeff Pelkey (remember him?) A Kittery Club

            member, Jeff's year has kept him very busy and absent. Rick updated us on upcoming

            District Events. For our newer members information: Our Rotary District is divided into

            Areas of five to six clubs each, each area has an Assistant Governor who tries to attend

            at least four club meetings of each club a year representing the District Governor. The

            AG works with the Club presidents in their area to both help and coordinate efforts.

                A reminder to all - Rotary Leadership Institute, an educational program covering

           the many aspects of Rotary, will be held March 6th at YCCC in Wells. The program

           is a four level curiculum (Parts I,II,III ands Post Graduate). All Rotarians are encouraged

           to attend. Preregistration is required and can be done on line through the District 7780

           website. The cost at YCCC is $65 and the Club has money budgeted to reimburse

           attendees. The program is given at several places in the northeast, we are lucky to have

           one of the sessions a few miles up the road. You will find attendees traveling from other

           Districts across New England to attend.Your Newsletter editor has attended Levels I-III and

           would be doing the Post-grad except I fly in about midnight the night before.

                President Julie presented a thankyou note from the school

 librarian for the new books provided to the school

 libraries through our "Speaker Book" program.

  Thursday's Blood Drive                                                Pam reads the Red Cross letter

 

             Pam Gray coordinates the Club sponsored Bi-monthly Red Cross Blood Drive.

           Pam thanked the club for their support last Thursday and presnted a letter of

           Appreciation from the Red cross to the Club. 

 

                 Julie reminded all of the upcoming Dinner for Seniors on Sunday March 28th and she

           and Pat reminded everyone of the Taste of Kittery on April 15th. Julie has the tickets

           and Pat is looking for quality Silent Auction items (Greg volunteered to store the beer)

 

       Meeting Program:        Today was Students of the Month. President-Elect Russ presented

            the R.W. Traip Academy Student, senior  Jack Donaldson and Shapleigh Middle School

           5th grade student Ethan Nightingale. Jack's mother and Ethan's entire family joined us for

           the meeting. A second Shapleigh student was out of town and will come at a later date.

           Jack is a junior firefighter for Kittery and is going to college to take courses with the goal

           of becoming a pprofessional firefighter ~ he also sports a Yankee hat (the Chief spoke

           very highly of him and claims it is not because of his support of New York)

Teacher Steve Frost introduces Shapleigh Student of the Month from

the 5th Grade,Ethan Nightingale. Although appearing quiet with us, Mr. Frost reports

Ethan is good for 6 questions as soon as he appears in his room

Traip teacher Nancy Castellon praised Jack for his work with

one of the most difficult students in her class.

Mentoring the individual from failure to solid progress. 

 

      50-50 Raffle:  50% of the pot goes for club administration and 50% goes to the lucky

             individual if their raffle ticket is chosen and they select the one joker hidden in

             the ever-decreasing deck of cards. If the joker is not drawn then the pot

             rolls over to the next week). 

           Bill won the raffle and pulled out the joker ~ winning $248.

                Congratulations Bill!

                                 the 2010-2011 Year

                   May 14-16 ~ District Conference, this is the capstone of the 2009-2010

                                Rotary year and the District Governor's home club (us) assists him

                                in putting together the event
