Our Next Program: Club Assembly
Last Week's News:
Guests and Happenings:
~ Visiting Rotarians: Wil Backus from Germany joined us once again after hunting us
down in our new location. Will spent Thanksgiving with his children in New Hampshire
but is returning this week to Germany with his wife
~ Guests: Karol Gooch
~ News: A great turnout to support the refreshments at the Christmas parade.
Thank you all. We had several family members join us as well and it was
great to have them there. The weather cooperated by adding a touch of
snow and enough of a chill to make Jeff Furbish's great cocoa very much
appreciated. We also got Peter Robinson his (first?) newspaper interview
and mention in the Portsmouth Herald. A great hand off, if your editor does
say so! I did get him a cup of cocoa so he would not freeze up while being
interviewed. Both the reporter and my relatives who were with me commented
on how everyone seemed to know each other in the crowd and as they came
to the refreshment table ~ a great community gathering.

P-E Russ went right from leading the parade in to Tom Rines joined his wife Pauli, with Joyce,
serving hot cocoa Bill & Russ, handing out cookies and manning
the pitchers

Jeff Furbish once again brewed gallons of Ellen's family also joined right in!
great Cocoa
The Christmas Cabaret at Kittery Estates on Sunday was a wonderful time
and a great success. The event was near to sold out and everyone had a delightful
time. Our great thanks to the staff of Kittery Estates who did a tremendous job serving
and making everyone comfortable. The Bodacious Babes were great fun and the food
was excellant.
A great gathering, a lot of the club and their families turned out

The Bodacious Babes were dynamic and fun
Meeting Program: .
Your newsletter editor took the Club on a journey up the Nile from Alexandria on
the Mediteranean to Abul Simbel near the Sudanese border. The appearance of "Sheik
Rattle & Roll " (so dubbed by a fellow travelor at the time) at the Recreation Center
Halloween party had prompted interest in seeing a little of Egypt. So we went from
catacombs to pyramids, camels to feluccas. Down into the crypts of the Valley of the
Kings and south to the Aswan High Dam and the 500 mile Lake Nassar and the temple
reclamation projects that were needed to save some of the 5000 year old temples

costs $$"
50-50 Raffle
(50% of the pot goes for club administration and 50% goes to the lucky individual if their
raffle ticket is chosen and they select the one joker hidden in the ever-decreasing deck of
cards. If the joker is not drawn then the pot rolls over to the next week).
Karol Gooch won the raffle but drew the Ace of Clubs and lost $52.50.
Joyce was rooting for a quick finish to the new Yankees deck, Obie is hoping it goes
for another 50 weeks!
