News - President Julie announced the Riverdance being held this Saturday,
September 19th to support the Fuel & More Program
- Julie also announced also that she is encouraging strong Rotary support for
the 30th anniversary dinner for York Hospice at the Regatta Room on the 25th.
tickets are $25.
- Julie has received the official letter and check for our District Simplified Grant
for the EveryFifteenMinutes program. The Grant ($2885) will be augmented by
contributions from our club, the Lions Club, the Police and Fireman's Associations,
and the school system. This was the largest District Grant awarded this year. The
District money comes from the contributions Rotarians make to the Rotary
Foundation. In celebration of the successful Grant submittal Julie asked Dave,
who wrote the Grant, to sign a speakers book to be donated to the Kittery
Schools. The tragic recent accident in a neighboring town highlighted how
important the EveryFifteen Minute Program message is.
-

Dave signing the "speaker's " book, Dave had a very visual way of announcing
that the Highland Games were this week and
that his "Clan" was arriving from across the country
to attend together
Dan showed us all a letter he recieved with pictures from their friend
Alex Nzuva in Kenya. Alex writes that they had recieved the second box of clothes
we sent and the pictures are of the local self-help group in the village who make robes,
baskets and repair roads around the village. Some of the members are wearing some
of the clothes we sent. Two pictures show them fetching water at the nearest dam for
domestic use. The need for clean, safe local water is very great and Alex writes that he is
praying for our proposed water project to go through. He is going to try to talk to the Nairobi
Rotary Club this month .
