Our Next Program:  District Assembly

     Guests and Happenings:

         ~ Visiting Rotarians: Paul Wolf, imediate Past President of the Kennebunk Club

                              and our guest speaker; Pat Barbour from Portsmouth Rotary

 

         ~ Guests: None

 

      Meeting Program:  

                   President Sue reminded us that May 7th is the Taste of Kittery,

          Tickets are available from Julie, Pat, and Dave. Pat needs to have auction

           items, she has lists of what we got last year and ideas from the Kittery

          Community auction.

 

                  Pam reminded everyone of the Blood Drive at 12-7pm April 23rd,

          she needs volunteers and donors . She has to leave early and therefore

          needs coverage in the 5-7 slot especially.

 

                  Paul Wolf, past president of the Kennebunk Rotary club and senior

          vice-president of Kennebunk Savings Bank, was our speaker. Paul is president

          of Kennebunk Financial services. Paul is on the adjunct faculty of Merrimack

          College and at the College for Financial Planning.  Paul spoke of the state of

         the economy. "Things are getting less worse" he reports.

                Paul reviewed several economic indicators and reported that based upon

        the signals he expects"Good news is coming in the next six months" Paul

        commented that if people wait until  the economy is improved before they get

        further invested they probably will be that they will miss 25% of the recovery based

        upon past cycles. "The economy lags the financial market".

 

             The Rotary Foudation has requested that we send in the Polio-plus Funds

         raised to date. we have raised $1417.43 and those funds will be mailed out today.

 

               The Club has also contributed $3299 to the Rotary Foundation Annual Fund in the

         2008-2009 year (Including the donation reported below)..

                

      50-50 Raffle

          (50% of the pot goes for club administration and 50% goes to the lucky individual if their       

          raffle ticket is chosen and they select the one joker hidden in the ever-decreasing deck of

          cards. If the joker is not drawn then the pot rolls over to the next week). 

 

          DGE Jeff won the raffle and drew the joker winning $291!

         Jeff donated the funds to the Rotary foundation

           

Upcoming Programs: 

              

               April 21st ~ Our meeting will be the District Assembly, there will be

                                 no meeting at Kittery Estates. Registration will start at

                                8 A.M. Jeff could use extra help to set up tables and chairs 

                                before hand

                April 23rd ~ Red cross Blood Drive 12-7 pm at the Lion's Club

                 April 28th ~ Students of the Month

                  May 7 ~ Taste of Kittery

                Happy/Sad Dollars on Student of the Month meetings goes to fund

                  our Third Grade Dictionary Project

 

                Happy/Sad dollars for the other meetings this quarter go to the

              Oil and More program.
