Guests and Happenings:
~ Visiting Rotarians: Ed Mallon, Portsmouth Rotary, Joe Carlton Wells Rotary,
and our guest speaker Glenn Michaels of Brunswick Rotary
~ Guests: Genevieve Benton, our first "Briefly Business" guest
Our first "Briefly Business" guest, Genevive, gave us a two minute
review of all that her company "APERFECTMOVER" does. Her talk was
reinforced by both Susie and Pat who remarked about the great help
Genevive has been to their residents, and by Brad who noted how much
Genevive and APERFECTMOVER has done for Fair Tide.

Genevieve talking to the club about her business
Dan presented a thank you note from his friend Alex in Kenya who we
have sent two boxes of clothes for the local villagers. The customs duty
on the boxes is about $20 and the club will wire him reimbursement for
the two boxes we have shipped todate.
Marie reported on the excellant World Understanding & Peace Dinner
program held on February 28th

The young man on the right above is Ryan McDonnell.
He was the keynote speaker at the WU&P Dinner. He was one
of Rotary's Ambassadorial Scholars studying in South Africa when he
and 16 other Ambassadorial Scholars put on a 1300 mile, 20 day hike to
raise awareness of the plight of AIDS orphans. Ambassadorial Scholars
are one of the many programs funded by the Rotary Foundation
Joyce mentioned that DG Brad had given her sister Penny a Paul Harris
Fellow multiple in recognition for all she has done for the District.
At the Dinner DG Brad introduced the new District Governor Nominee
(DG 2011-2012) Gary Speers of the Damariscotta-Newcastle Rotary Club

Gary Spears with Jeff
Dave displayed the award Kittery Rotary received for being the No. 2
per capita donator to the Rotary Foundation in 2007-2008.

This month we are again putting on a drive for the Rotary Foundation and
donations will be matched as long as the budgeted Club funds last.
Susie informed us of an upcoming police benefit spaghetti dinner and
an Art in Bloom event to be held in the coming weeks at Kittery Estates.
She invited any artists in the club to take part.
Dave reminded everyone of the Club's Free Dinner for Seniors to be held
March 22nd at the Kittery Recreation center.
Today was Joyce's birthday ~ we sang "Happy Birthday" to her.
Jeff reminded everyone that April 21st was District Assembly at the YCCC
in Wells. This is a Tuesday and he hoped the Club will make that the
club meeting for that week. Marie is going to be the Registrar .
Editor's Note:The host club ( the incoming District Governor's Club i,e,~us)
provides support. This will be officially discussed at this month's board meeting
and Club Assembly, but everyone is urged to mark their calendars so we have
a large turnout to support Jeff . This is the roll-out District event for the District
Governor for the next year.
Meeting Program: .
This was our first meeting after voting to change locations and we were glad
to see that our visitors found us. We had a great breakfast and a very good
turnout. President Sue had to work and President-elect Julie took the gavel.

Glenn talking about Volunteers of New England
Glenn Michaels represents Volunteers of New England and he told us
about the many different programs for seniors, youth, and for released
prison inmates. The program he highlighted was Camp P.O.S.T.C.A.R.D,
a camp the club supports a camper to, and Russ French has been a strong
advocate and volunteer at for years. Russ had to leave early so he was not
there to hear all the good things said about him. Glenn reminded us that summer
was coming and they would be holding Camp in a few months despite the snow
currently piled outside. Check out Camp P.O.S.T.C.A.R.D. at
http://www.voanne.org/Default.aspx?tabid=1544

Camp P.O.S.T.C.A.R.D. is one of Volunteers of N.E.'s programs ,
Russ is a regular leader there and the Club is a supporter.
Julie chaired a fund raising meeting afterward . The decision was made that
we would do Taste Of Kittery again, news received from an attendee at the Blood
Drive was that another town organization planned a pizza event this spring. The group
liked the idea of a pizza event but thought that earlier in the year and and done
for fun rather then needing to make a significant amount from it would be best
Pat mentioned that we need to focus on seaching out really good silent auction
items..
59-50 Raffle
(50% of the pot goes for club administration and 50% goes to the lucky individual if their
raffle ticket is chosen and they select the one joker hidden in the ever-decreasing deck of
cards. If the joker is not drawn then the pot rolls over to the next week).
The birthday girl was the raffle winner but she missed the Joker
and lost $183.50
