Guests and Happenings:
~ Visiting Rotarians: Ed mallon from Portsmouth Rotary
~ Guests: Honorary Rotarian and retired club member Lezlye Shea,
Lukas Kiernan, Junior from Traip Academy , Mark and Elisa
Kierrnan, and Traip Teacher Cheryl Cargale
Meeting Program: .
This was our last meeting at Robert's before moving the meetings to
Kittery Estates. The Club wanted to say a special thankyou to Michael
Landgarten who has hosted and supported us for years. We were meeting
in the Qaurterdeck Restaurant when he bought it. After he decided to tear
down the Quarterdeck and rebuild we moved our meetings to his restauant
at Bob's Clam Hut down the street. When Robert's Maine Grill opened we
joined the parade down Route 1 of friends, employees, and supporters to the
Grand Opening and have been meeting at Roberts since it opened in 2006

A big thankyou to Michael! He has been very supportive
~ he added that we cheered up the start of the day each Tueday
The Club gave Michael a Rotary plaque with our appreciation of both
Michael and his staff and a standing ovation. Then we called ont our chef.
He not only set up and put away after meetings, cooked the breakfasts,
responded to requests for variety, watched to see what people liked,
(not easy when some like real crispy bacon and others want it to squeal)
and met the challenge of surges in numbers of guests. The club passed
the hat and presented a final "tip' for the great service.

Thanks to the chef! From President Sue and the Club
This month we only had one student. We will catch up with the Shapliegh
School February Student next month. The Traip Academy Student of the Month
is Lukas Kiernan. Both of Lukas' parents were our guests along with his computer
science teacher Cheryl Cargale. Cheryl related how, although challenged by
Computer Science, Lukas met the challenge by putting in many extra hours,
by asking for help whenever he needed it, and making a huge personal effort,
finishing the course with a 98. The Club congratulated Lukas and his parents,
it is apparent he has learned lessons that wiill serve him very well in the years
ahead.

Lukas Kiernan is congratulated by Vice-Presdent Russ
as Computer Science teacher Cheryl Cargale looks on
In other news, President Sue reminded the Club that the World Understanding
and Peace dinner is this Saturday and the Rotary Leadership Institute is the
following Saturday at the York County Community College. Joyce is inviting
everyone to a March 17th gathering at her home (in the evening after she has
finished selling all those St Patrick's day green arrangements!).
59-50 Raffle
(50% of the pot goes for club administration and 50% goes to the lucky individual if their
raffle ticket is chosen and they select the one joker hidden in the ever-decreasing deck of
cards. If the joker is not drawn then the pot rolls over to the next week).
Greg won the raffle but drew the Jack of Diamonds and lost $163.50
