Last Week's News:
Guests and Happenings:
~ Visiting Rotarians: Dick Santaro joined us again as well as Dave Wilson,
Chair of the District Student Exchange program.
~ Guests: Patty Higgens and Steve Estes from the Friends of Fort McClary
Meeting Program:
Patty Higgens Secretary/Treasurer of the Friends of
Fort McClary assisted by Steve Estes gave an overview of all the group
has accomplished in the last couple of years as well as the events planned
at the Park this year. They also gave us the history of the Fort dating from
the early 1700's up through WWI and thier plans and projects for the future.

The Fort property used to extend up to Lawrence Lane and included a
school, a hospital, work shops and pasture. The original Kittery Point Road
used to wind through the Fort property until expansion of building on the property
led to reroutuing the road to the current Pepperrell Road position.
The nonprofit group supports recreation and historical preservation at the
State Park. Last year they successfully installed a replica cannon in the top
floor of the block house. More information is available on their website at
www.fortmcclary.org

President Sue has Steve and Patty sign a
speaker's book to be donated to the school libray
Obie was called to the podium by President Sue for a special book
signing. Obie had recently read this book,Travel Team by
Miike Lupica, his comments were"One of the best books ever written":,
"Excellant book about coaching and motivating kids". Alan and Sue
thought it only appropriate that Obie be the one to dedicate this
copy to the school library.
59-50 Raffle
(50% of the pot goes for club administration and 50% goes to the lucky individual if their
raffle ticket is chosen and they select the one joker hidden in the ever-decreasing deck of
cards. If the joker is not drawn then the pot rolls over to the next week).
Dee drew the raffle ticket and pulled her own number, but her luck stopped there.
She drew the 10 of spades, missing that joker "by only one", she lost $142.50.
It must be the luck at that end of the table!
