Avenues of Service - New Generations Service

September is New Generations Month, when Rotary celebrates its commitment to youth and young adult programs.  The Rotary Club of Kittery has long been a supporter of the youth and young adults in our community.  We had an Interact Club at Traip Academy for a time, we have participated in the Youth Exchange program plus we send students to RYLA. 

In addition, we recognize Students of the Month at both the middle school and high school each month during the school year. The students have their names placed on a plaque which is on display in both schools.  We have participated in the Third grade dictionary project for several years which the club enjoys doing.  We have supported the local DARE Program both financially and with manpower.  We make a donation each year to Camp Postcard which is a camp for children at risk.  We have two club members that go and participate at Camp Postacard each year. Our Club President Russ has been active in it for several years as well as Obie who is the Fire Chief for Kittery. 

We have done High School Scholarships since the club started and in the most recent years we have offered an adult scholarship to assist young adults that are trying to better themselves and the lives of their families. 

We have long felt that the children and young adults of today are our leaders of tomorrow!
